Breaking The Code Of A-00002- Agiorgitiko- Vlassides

Agiorgitiko is the most widely planted red Greek grape variety, mainly in Nemea.

At the Vlassides winery in Koilani a vision rise by Cypriot winemaker, Sophocles Vlassides.

The similarities of the climate ,soil between Koilani (Cyprus) and Nemea (Grecce) was there to be discovered and studied.

With possibility, to the potentiality of Vlassides vision, in 2007 was planted the first trellising vineyard of Agiorgitiko, at an altitude of 750 meters.

The goal was and still is , to produce concentrated wines with a deep dark color which is rich in red fruit aromas and a velvety aftertaste. The successful result is mostly based on the proper management of the vineyards, in order to achieve low yields and highly concentrated

grapes with the proper phenolic maturation. During vinification, we pay a lot of attention to maceration, as well as in the oxidative ageing which takes place in French barrels of 2nd and 3rd usage.

Ageing 10 months in french oak

ABV : 15,5%


Visual: Majestic deep dark color with strong vivid purple highlights on rim.


Nose: Medium plus aromatic intensity, plenty of red and dark fruit,raspberry ,blackberry,Plum Sauce, with touch of black and white pepper.Oak is there adding nice complexity to the wine.


Pallet : Dry, full body ,elegance and complexity in every zip , spicy and fruity character with pleasant graphic tannins with a nutmeg twist and great acidity bringing out its freshness. Alcohol is perfectly integrated.



FOOD PAIRING

Agiorgitiko pairs wonderfully with roasted meats, tomato sauces, and lite spiced cuisines.

DECANT: 40 min - 1 Hour
