Tale of People.....

My phone was ringing ,it was Andros. My first thought was "Something Good Coming ".

He was facing some" dilemma", to purchase some wines to add in to his collection and he wanted my opinion.As we were talking ,he invited me to his house and i grab the chance to visit a friend and hopefully try some of the gems he keeps in his cellar.



Well you may be thinking who is Andros.

Andros is working in Four Seasons Hotel

in Cyprus , as Bar Supervisor ( team member of the Award-winning Vista Bar in Four Seasons Hotel ), member of The Cyprus Bartenders Association ( Cy.B.A. ) and Cyprus Sommeliers Association.

Beyond that he is a wine enthusiast and passionate about local wines.


Meeting with Andros i took the opportunity to interview him,or better to say,to hear his story about his passion for wine.






What it was, why wine, where It all Started ?


"In 1990,at that time i was a student at hotel and catering school of limassol cyprus.With my Classmates we were visiting KEO company ,during our tour I felt a very pleasant smell ,i didnt know was it was but i wanted to find out .Finally we got there, barrels,wine barrels.Our tour guide said that it was Commandaria and gave us a few words about it.But wasn't enough for me,i wanted to find out more.

It's something that i will never forget,i believe that the start for me."









Which wine you tasted lately and you was impressed ?


"Well that's easy, the one we will try now Vlassides Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 .

I have tasted it few days ago,It was amazing experience. I believe our local wines can aged well and express their true character of our unique terroir and the philosophy of the winemaker."


"We left the bottle open for 30 - 40 min,to open up its flavors and aromas.A very well made rich,fruity,superbly balanced ,smooth wine."





Maratheftiko or Giannoudi ?


" It will be Maratheftiko , intense,its complexity,fruity,earthy with spicy layers.

I find Maratheftiko fascinating as Red and Rose "
