" lets check out what he has to say "

What inspired you to become Sommelier ?

" The first ever Sommelier competition in Cyprus ,gave me the spark to start my Journey in wine. It made me realize see thinks different , it was time to improve and correct restaurant wine service, to bring wine culture in our industry "

Four Seasons Sommelier team received the ‘Best Wine Culture’TimeOut 2016 Awards

Members of Sommelier team received multi award in various competitions.

Which local wine you have tasted lately and you was impressed with it ?

"Lately a friend gave me to try in Blind Tasting a red wine, it was in magnum size. At first i thought it was Rhone Valley red...

It came out it was a Shiraz from Cyprus, Pachna area that my friend grew himself in the family vineyards. He had it vinified and bottled at Tsiakkas winery.

A Fine red it was, with great earthy and spicy aromas, full body and great finesse!!!!"

Which region in the world is your favorite and why !

" If i have to chose it will be Burgundy for White wines and for Reds Piedmont. Amazed for the amount of excellent wines in these Regions..."

What Tips can you give for new Sommeliers ?

"New Sommeliers sometimes they're driven from excitement and often can be over the top in front of guests...Giving to guests a lot of unnecessary information can be annoying and sometimes awkward to them.

You have to evaluate every guest differently, go down to their level, make them feel comfortable...

We should all know , that guest is always the King of the Table. "

Many thanks to Savvas for sharing his thoughts with us.. MCWine team.
